My Story

I come from a long line of stylists and barbers. My grandfather owned and operated a salon when I was growing up. My grandmother, mother, and aunt also worked in the family business, so you could say that hair and customer service are in my blood. I first started cutting my own hair in High School. The challenge of cutting my own hair gave me a deep respect for the craft of Barbering. Step fades that wouldn’t blend were never going to be in style so I quickly hung up the clippers and left it to the professionals.

While attending College in my early 30's I worked for the County of San Mateo Behavior Health and Recovery Services. My time in Human Services taught me how to engage people with respect, professionalism, and empathy. While I enjoyed my time working for the County of San Mateo, I felt called to explore the hair industry as a profession, like my family has done for generations. I took a leap of faith, enrolled in barber college in 2010 and haven't looked back since.

Early in my career, I developed a passion for education and teaching and spent 4 years as an educator for American Crew. In 2016, I purchased a barbershop in California called The San Mateo Zoo. I successfully embraced and respected the history and culture while slowly transforming the shop values: customer service, consistency, and giving back to our community. An example of giving back that is close to my heart and home was the annual Holiday Haircut Party, an event that provided free haircuts for adults and kids with developmental disabilities.

My family and I moved to Portland in October of 2020 and I've been flying back and forth to take care of my clients and to run the barbershop. In September 2023 made the decision to sell my shop and plant roots here in Portland.

As a barber, I believe that the quality of my work is only as good as the relationships I build with my clients. Whether it's your first time in my chair or your twentieth, I strive to create a comfortable environment where you can relax and enjoy the experience. My goal is to provide you with a quality haircut that makes you feel confident and ready to take on the world. I am very experienced in all hair textures, lengths, and facial grooming, and strive to deliver both an excellent haircut and overall experience.
